Performances:Nani is the life and soul of the film. He is at his best in comedy and emotional scenes. He saves the film to a great extent during boring portions. Sai Pallavi performs well once again and shares a super chemistry with Nani. Bhumika makes a good comeback. Vijay is good as the villain.
Technicalities:Cinematography is a highlight and captures Warangal well. Music and bgm are good by DSP.
Story of the movie is very ordinary. It’s just about how a middle class guy saves his family. This is a point which has been dealt with in so many movies. So the main point of the film doesn’t excite us much. Coming to the screenplay, the first half had been dealt well with good comedy and love portions. Interval point gives us a clear idea about what to expect in the second half. Second half is predictable and exactly how we would have expected it. Thanks to Nani, the otherwise mediocre second half is made quite engaging. Climax is over the top and a let down.
Verdict: MCA is a decent but routine entertainer saved by the star power and presence of NANI!
Story: Arivu(Siva Karthikeyan) is an educated lower middle class guy. He wants to change the lives of the people in his slum. He earns a job in a leading company’s service section. Just when he thinks things are going right, he realises that his company is killing many with it’s harmful products. How does a worker go against the owners to change the system forms the story.
Performances:Siva Karthikeyan is excellent alas the educated youth. He is superb in emotional scenes and shows his calibre as an actor. He has successfully managed to come out of the comedy zone and this movie will take him to top league of actors in Tamil. Nayanthara is good.l but appears in a small role. Fahadh Fasil is excellent as the ruthless owner. Prakash Raj, RJ Balaji , Robo Shankar , Satish and Sneha have done their bit well.
Technicalities:Camerawork and music set the tone of the film. Anirudh’s usual mass bgm is missing in this movie. Artwork is excellent and the slum set deserves applause. The entire story department needs to be applauded for the research and detailing they have done.
There are lot of particular scenes which have worked out extremely well and brought claps from the audience. One of these is the supermarket scene in the first half and the light scene in the climax and pre interval. Mohan Raja should be saluted for choosing such a bold script and showing it in such a strong way. Though the movie is too preachy, nobody would mind it as the story connects with every single person watching the movie. The message has delivered in such a way that the viewer would think about it for a few days after watching the movie and all the credit goes to Mohan Raja for that.
First half of the movie is highly engaging . Second half drags a bit here and there but ends on a high note. There are some moments in the movie which could have been enhanced even better but all these appear as very minor flaws on a whole.
Verdict: Velaikaran is a bold and fitting tribute to every “Velaikaran”.
Story:Jai(Sai Dharam Tej) is a patriotic DRDO officer. Keshav(Prasanna) is a notorious criminal who wants to steal a very powerful weapon called Octopus from DRDO headquarters and use it for destruction. How does Jai stop him forms the story.
Performances: This is definitely Sai Dharam Tej’s best performance till date. He plays the role of an intelligent youngster in a convincing way. Mehreen is cute and has nothing much to do. Prasanna is superb as the villain and very stylish. He reminds everyone of Arvind Swamy from Dhruva. Others did their bit as required.
Technicalities: Cinematography is quality . Songs and bgm by Thaman are a big highlight but two songs could have been avoided as they come in for no reason. Story of the movie is simple and interesting. Screenplay could have been more interesting.
Screenplay reminds us of movies like Dhruva and Spyder. First half is decent but the main story gets going only in the second half and some scenes and dialogues in the second half are very good. Some logics go missing here and there. Second half makes up for the minor flaws in the first half. An even more engaging screenplay would have taken this movie to the next level. But nevertheless, this movie is a good attempt. No unwanted commercial elements have been added which is a good sign.
Verdict: A decent patriotic action thriller which is worth a watch.
Story: How does the district collector help in saving the life of a 4 year old girl who fell into the bore well forms the story.
Performances: Nayantara gave a subtle performance and emoted very well. All the supporting characters who acted as the villagers have given sincere performances.
Technicalities:Cinematography is natural. Dialogues are bold and slightly preachy. Screenplay is tight . Music by Ghibran is very good . There are a lot of emotional scenes which will connect to family audience.
Debutant director Gopi Nainar must be applauded for choosing a bold and crucial subject like this and dealing it in a very engaging way. The movie boldly questions the government on various issues.
Verdict:A bold socially relevant movie with good performances and good emotional content.
Story: There is a dangerous dacoit gang on the loose. How does Theeran(Karthi) handle the mission and put an end to the dacoits forms the story.
Performances:This is undoubtedly one of the best performances in Karthi’s career. This is a physically very demanding role and he does full justice to it. Rakul Preet Singh appears only for a short time but makes her presence felt. Abhimanyu Singh is scary and perfectly fits the villain role. All the supporting actors have added life to the proceedings.
Technicalities: This is a technically supreme film. Cinematography is superb and shot every well in Rajasthan episode especially. Music is good but bgm is outstanding. Stunts are incredible and provide an edge of the seat experience.
The director of this film H.Vinoth proves what kind of a genius he is. The detailing given in the film, the incredibly racy screenplay and taut narration give us an idea about his talent. The movie is about 2 hours 40 minutes long but doesn’t bore us even for a second. Screenplay has been written that tightly. First half and second half are equally racy and interesting. Interval episode and bus episode in the second half are major highlights.
This movie is a worthy tribute to the honest police officers of our country.
Verdict: A must watch edge of the seat action thriller !
Story:Arvind Krishna(Sri Vishnu) is an introvert and confused guy and has a problem in talking to girls. How does he overdone his inner problems and find the true love of his life forms the story.

Technicalities: Cinematography, music and art work give a class and feel good flavour to the movie. Dialogues are good. Story is simple and sweet.
The movie has a highly entertaining and feel good first half. Second half gets a bit deviated and slow but never gets boring. Movie ends on a feel good note. Sumanth and Nara Rohith appear in cameos. What is that company , who is behind it and how does DJ put an end to them is the story.
Performances: Allu Arjun is in terrific form. He is highly energetic ut couldn’t match NTR’S performance in Adhurs. His dances are also not up to what we expect. But still, he did a great job. Pooja Hegde is the main attraction in the movie. She is drop dead gorgeous and will make guys go crazy. Rao Ramesh is at his usual best. All other actors have done their job well.
Technicalities: Cinematography to appreciable. Music and bgm are good by DSP. Others are all functional. Editing is okay.
The basic story of the movie is very routine and screenplay is also just about okay in the second half. First half is racy and has loads of entertainment. Second half begins on a highly predictable note but ends on a good note. Second half could have been even better with some good and fresh scenes. Harish Shankar does a safe job but more was expected from him.
Verdict: DJ is a typical commercial for with good amount of entertainment. Ignoring a slightly routine second half, this movie is definitely worth a watch .
